Done is better than perfect

Does it make sense to write a blog post about every video I make? No. Why wouldn't I just put it in the video? Well, I'm learning. I'm always  learning. One of the first quotes I can think of came from a high school writing class. Bethany was teaching it and she always told us to write a shitty first draft. I have always had difficulty with this. More often than not I will choose to walk away from a project that seems "bigger then I can handle" because I don't want to look stupid. Now the jokes on me, I regularly look stupid (it's mostly my hair)... That isn't the point. Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life, and it is the main obstacle between you and a shitty first draft. -Anne Lamott  Even this silly Tide PODS video. I was almost done and I shut down the program because it wasn't good enough. My ridiculous acting was excessively ridiculous. The lighting was wr...

How-to, a festival.

Image
How-To Festival and Block Party This was the 3rd annual How-To Festival . I've never been to a "How-To" festival before, It was very interesting! From writing prompts to 3D printing, a large variety of arts were present. My personal favorite were tech related of course. I learned that the Maine State Library UP room is a thing! While I haven't had the opportunity to work on projects, I hope to in the very near future! I entirely understand that this video is not a production miracle. My goals are just to create. I've spent months watching videos on how to make videos... Yet I haven't been making them... So, I have to start somewhere. I am hoping to do a weekly Adventure log to be posted on Mondays. I just found my school has an open computer lab on Mondays! I am really excited to start working on a decent computer! I will be making more content as time goes on! My current interest are photography, Youtube videos, and Podcasting. I am working to bui...

What do you do, when you do to much, but don't have enough to do?

With the fall semester done and my program not actually starting until fall of 2014 I've hit an awkward place.  I don't know what to do with my time. I mean I still work 60+ hours a week, but I don't have brain burning work to fill every waking (and some sleeping) hour of my life! Like, I still have nightmares about just needing to find X! So I'm working on things to start doing to occupy my mind. Here's my list so far. This blog! I want to be move active writing in general. I have no idea where i want to go with this. I want it to be a conglomeration of what's going on. i might write about interesting calls I do. Things I'm learning/studying, recent musings, and other projects.  Returning to YouTube. I don't want to "vlog" or V-log as will start calling it thanks to Danisnotonfire . I enjoy acting, writing, and insanity... so V-logs and skits seem perfect for me... Magic the gathering! *sigh* This is slowly but surely becoming a new thin...

PHGD: Post Hunger games Depression.

WARNING! SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK STOP HERE! In the words of Marvin the Robot; I'm depressed. If you've been under a rock in northern Maine then you may not know about "The Hunger Games" I doubt you have the internet though, so you aren't going to see this... awkward. Well this book trilogy called the hunger games is really good. the books themselves are good, the story is good. However, I feel that the trilogy has been used as a way to shove a message that is painful to swallow into the throats of readers. I won't go over the story cause if you haven't read it, you should read this. In book 1: the hunger games we have a young strong female lead, she knows who she is. A survivor. Katniss has to fight gladiator style with 23 other CHILDREN. I think this is something that is sadly over looked by a lot of people. In america we are use to images of war, we see it on TV, we hear it in the news, we even live it out in games. We never...

Ocarina for all time!

Image
Heyyyyy Ocarina! Okay, Maybe that's not quite right... It says what I need though! So yea, I was stumbling around the internet and found something incredibly awesome. An Ocarina app for Iphone, of course the first thing I do is down load the  android version  and I've been playing away ever since! Now, there are limits! it is only a 4 hole ocarina, but it's enough to have fun with. I've been playing with it and reading about them and now I'm getting serious about buying one and learning to play it. A real 12 hole, tenor or bass. So, instead of studying for SAT's or something, I'm playing the digital ocarina on my phone.... First off, watch the above clip... It may not be the same for you, but that 4 note whistle almost reduces me to tears... ridiculous. I know, but Rue is an amazing character! Rue's death is what really made me think about the atrocities being committed against children that are a full generation away from the rebellion that...

Because cutting digital rope is only so fun.

Okay so adventuring on the Internet today I found this little thing. It's called Sphero Now to it's credit this is America, with obesity and Iphones both becoming a norm It only was a matter of time before a made a ball that was remote controlled by our Iphones... Can you feel the sarcasm sticking to every pixel of your screen right now? yea. Now I will admit I think the idea is kinda cool and the creators actually made API's for it so third party groups can make infinitely cooler apps. That take advantage of the built in LED, gyroscopic, and accelerometer.  So looking at videos and such on the Sphero reminded me of a video Phill Defranco did about the AR.drone 2.  Which is actually cool. Creeping was never so easy! The AR.drone 2 is a flying quad copter That has a HD camera on the front... Which could be used for a multitude of things, getting dramatic camera angles, exploring the world around you, or the girls next doors bed room....

"The Hatchery" Teaser.

Alright, So I have been told that the video I did for the teaser was to fast/ to "wordy" so here is the actual text of the background of "The Hatchery" Over ten-thousand years ago a battle was fought that would change this planet forever. The Insect race known only as "The Swarm" tried to infest earth... and nearly succeeded... The only thing that stopped them was the fabled Atlantians. When conventional methods of war failed against The Swarm they had no choice but to purge the earth with fire... The Atlantians took no more then a dozen humans with them to Atlantis. As soon as Atlantis was safely on the bottom of the ocean, Hell was unleashed on earth.  After the purging of the swarm the earth was left charred... dead. Even with all the knowledge and technology of the Atlantians it took almost a thousand years to nurse the earth back to health. By then mankind had grown into the tens of thousands. The Atlantians spread man across...

2012: new year revolution

Forgive me interweb, for I have sinned against you. In my last two post I have talked about how working out is the best thing ever. I've been a hypocrite... I lift weights 2-3 times a week but I haven't been working out. I stepped on the scale today and found myself weighting in at 210 pounds! I'm about 6'2" so I can hold 210 pounds in fairly well... till I sit down.      For 2012 I don't have a resolution. This year I'm having a revolution. 2012 is going to be a extremely big year for me and it's going to change my world completely. Here's a list of everything I have planned for this year. I am turning 18 and getting a tattoo ;) I will be starting my EMT-I course, it looks like it will be in the fall now. I hope to get my first full time job in EMS! I am getting married to my amazing fiancee!!!(most important) I start college full time in the fall, a journey that won't end for another decade. I move out and have to be fully self r...
